【Animal modeling - Pharmacodynamic evaluation】 - Immune normal mouse leprosy foot pad infection model

【 Modeling Mechanism 】 CFW, CBA, BALB/c, DBA, and Kunming mice are all sensitive animals. Inoculate 50ml/3ml of bacteria per foot pad, and after 6-8 months, it can proliferate to 1000000. Generally, 5-8 months after inoculation is a logarithmic growth period, and then enter a decline period after a stable period.

【 Model characteristics 】 After inoculation with leprosy bacteria, the growth rate is slow and the proliferation is limited. The appearance of the foot pad remains unchanged, and the pathological features are similar to clinical borderline tuberculosis like leprosy lesions.

【 Model Evaluation and Application 】 This model is the most practical animal model for leprosy, which has been applied in the identification of leprosy bacteria, vitality determination, bacterial retention, and experimental chemotherapy research. The normal mouse foot pad model of leprosy bacteria has specificity, high success rate and reproducibility, regular growth, continuous passage, and unchanged biological characteristics. The drug sensitivity test is consistent with clinical practice. The mouse source is abundant, the price is low, the operation is simple, and it is easy to manage. The disadvantage is that the growth of leprosy bacteria in mouse foot pads is slow, the experimental period is long, and the lifespan of mice is short, making it difficult to conduct in-depth research; Limited proliferation in the foot pad, lack of severe nerve invasion, and lack of tumor type leprosy lesions.
