The 2024 Academic Exchange Conference on the Mechanisms of Organ Aging and Degenerative Changes, a Major Research Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, was held in Hefei


  On November 22-23, 2024, the National Natural Science Foundation of China Major Research Program "Mechanisms of Organ Aging and Degenerative Changes" 2024 Academic Exchange Conference and Key Support/Integration Project Final Review Meeting were held in Hefei. This conference is jointly organized by the Major Research Program Guidance Expert Group and the Management Working Group, and hosted by the University of Science and Technology of China. Professor Xue Tian, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Assistant to the President of the University of Science and Technology of China, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, guiding Professor Shen Yong, the leader of the expert group, to report on the organization and implementation of major research plans and project progress.

  Zhu Bing, a researcher from the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhou Bin, a researcher from the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Molecular Cell Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qu Jing, a researcher from the Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Qiang Qiang, a professor from the School of Basic Medicine of Peking University, and other four experts in the field of aging made specially invited academic reports. The meeting conducted a final review of 2 key support projects and 15 integration projects. The project leader reported on the implementation of the project plan, research results, talent cultivation, and existing problems. The guidance expert group evaluated the overall implementation and research results of this major research plan, and formed specific opinions and suggestions. At the same time, several experts and scholars in the field of aging were invited to give special reports on the laws and regulatory mechanisms of organ aging and its evolution towards degenerative changes, as well as new technologies and methods for early detection of aging. This conference focuses on the forefront of science and major national needs, delving into important scientific issues and future development trends in this field, and promoting high-quality research in the field of aging.

  During the meeting, the guidance expert group and the management working group jointly discussed the key points and evaluation indicators for the completion evaluation of major research plans, and made detailed arrangements and deployments for related work.

  More than 120 experts from over 40 research institutions across the country, as well as relevant staff from the Medical Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, attended the conference.
