On December 22, 2024, the Discipline Strategy Seminar on "Paradigm
Transformation and Inheritance Innovation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Basic
Research" was held in Tianjin, hosted by the Medical Science Department of the
National Natural Science Foundation of China and organized by Tianjin University
of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Zhao Lixiao, Deputy Director of Tianjin
Science and Technology Bureau, and Gao Xiumei, President of Tianjin University
of Traditional Chinese Medicine, attended the meeting and delivered
speeches.
The seminar focused on two topics: "Current Status and Bottlenecks of Basic
Research in Traditional Chinese Medicine" and "Interdisciplinary Intersections
and Paradigm Changes in Basic Research in Traditional Chinese Medicine". A total
of three thematic reports and eight special reports were arranged. The attending
experts had extensive exchanges and discussions, comprehensively sorted out the
current problems in basic research of traditional Chinese medicine, analyzed the
opportunities and challenges faced at the current stage, proposed future
development goals, and reached a consensus on "rejecting 'formulaic', 'short and
fast', and 'utilitarian' research".
36 leaders in charge of scientific research from Chinese medicine
universities across the country, experts engaged in frontline research, and
relevant staff from the Medical Science Department of the National Natural
Science Foundation of China participated in this seminar.
