The Medical Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China held an academic seminar on \"Neural Regulation and Intervention Strategies in Tumor Evolution\"

On February 26, 2025, the academic seminar on "Neural Regulation and Intervention Strategies in Tumor Evolution" hosted by the Medical Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China was held in Beijing. Bian Xiuwu, academician of the PLA Army Military Medical University, and Jiang Tao, academician of the Beijing Institute of Neurosurgery, served as the chairman of the meeting. 27 expert representatives from the fields of oncology, neuroscience, immunology, pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine, and biomedical engineering attended the meeting. Hong Wei, Deputy Director of the Medical Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Vice Director Hong Wei pointed out in his speech that with the rapid development of oncology and neuroscience research, the emerging interdisciplinary field of "cancer neuroscience" has emerged, and it permeates with the body's microecology, immunology, etc., reflecting people's deeper understanding of tumor regulatory networks and complex ecosystems. We hope that the attending experts can have in-depth discussions and full exchanges, condense key scientific issues in this field, and provide support for the forward-looking layout of cancer research by the Science Foundation.

This conference adopts a combination of conference reports and free discussions, with two keynote speeches arranged, focusing on topics such as "The regulatory role of the nervous system in tumor progression", "The interaction mechanism between tumor microenvironment and neural regulation", and "New strategies of neural regulation in tumor intervention", with 21 special presentations arranged. The attending experts conducted in-depth discussions, comprehensively reviewed the research frontiers and latest developments, opportunities and challenges faced in the field of "cancer neuroscience", condensed the key scientific issues in this field, and put forward suggestions for the key funding directions and policies in this field.

Relevant staff from the Medical Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China participated in this seminar.
