　　In order to further improve the approval and funding of major projects, continuously strengthen the scientific problem condensation mechanism for national major needs and world scientific frontiers, adhere to the combination of top-down and bottom-up approaches, and continuously improve the approval mechanism for major projects, the Ministry of Medical Sciences is soliciting suggestions from the scientific and technological community for the approval of major projects in the field of medical science.

　　1、 Positioning of various major types of projects

　　Key projects support scientific and technological personnel to conduct in-depth and systematic innovative research on research directions or disciplinary growth points with good foundations, promote disciplinary development, and drive breakthroughs in several important fields or scientific frontiers.

　　Major projects are aimed at addressing major scientific issues in the forefront of science, national economic, social, technological development, and national security needs. They are deployed in advance, conducting interdisciplinary and comprehensive research, fully playing a supporting and leading role, and enhancing China's ability to innovate at the source of basic research.

　　Major research projects focus on national strategic needs and major scientific frontiers, strengthen top-level design, condense scientific goals, gather advantageous forces, form project clusters with relatively unified goals or directions, promote interdisciplinary and integration, cultivate innovative talents and teams, enhance the original innovation capabilities of China's basic research, and provide scientific support for national economic, social development, and national security.
