　　Recently, the website of the Foundation of China announced the electronic version of the "2024 Annual Report of the National Natural Science Foundation of China". According to reports, the National Natural Science Foundation of China received a total of 403,900 applications from 2,502 relying units in 2024, funded 54,900 scientific fund projects of various types, and funded 33.581 billion yuan. Among them, 20,758 projects were funded, 23,226 projects of Youth Science Foundation, 3,519 projects of Regional Science Foundation, 433 projects of National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, 654 projects of Excellent Youth Science Foundation, 43 innovative research group projects, 18 basic science center projects, 745 key projects, 48 major projects, 419 major research plan projects, 350 international (regional) cooperative research projects, 1,306 joint fund projects, 67 national major scientific research instrument development projects, 2,237 special projects (including 810 youth academic basic research projects (doctoral students), 141 youth academic basic research projects (undergraduate students), 155 mathematics Tianyuan Fund projects, 315 foreign scholar research fund projects, 443 international (regional) cooperation and exchange projects, and 74 global scientific research fund projects.

　　The report disclosed that the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation project classification review and continued funding were carried out for the first time. A total of 160 people applied for continued funding, of which 41 projects were renewed funding and 9 projects were rated as poor in implementation.

　　The Basic Science Center sets up a single track for youth teams, and selects 8 outstanding youth teams in the first batch, and pilots the reform of the classification and evaluation of outstanding youth projects for clinicians to promote a total of 24 funding.
