[Animal Modeling ]- Experimental Renal Artery Stenosis Hypertension Model

  1. Animal modeling materials: Dogs or rabbits, regardless of gender; Medications: Anesthetics, antibiotics.

  2. Method of modeling: After anesthesia, the animal is placed in an abdominal position, starting from a distance of 1.5 to 2cm beside the spine, with the right side along the rib edge and the left side making a 4cm skin incision about two fingers wide at the rib edge. The subcutaneous tissue of the lumbar dorsal fascia is separated, and the medial oblique fascia is cut open. The long dorsal muscle is pushed open to expose the kidney and a segment of the renal artery is carefully and bluntly separated. A silver clip or ring of a certain diameter is used to cover the renal artery, resulting in renal artery stenosis, such as one side of the renal artery stenosis, Then remove the other kidney after an interval of 10-12 days. After surgery, inject antibiotics to prevent infection.

  3. The modeling principle is that one side of the kidney is resected, and the other side of the kidney is ischemic due to narrowing the renal artery on that side with a silver clip, so the increase in blood pressure is mainly due to sodium and water retention, activation of renin-angiotensin system, and increased sympathetic nerve activity.

  4. Changes after modeling: A few days after surgery, the animal's blood pressure begins to rise, and after 1-3 months, it reaches its peak and can be maintained for a long time.
