Monkeypox is an infectious disease caused by monkeypox virus infection. The host of monkeypox virus is still not fully understood, and rodents and non-human primates are considered potential hosts. Monkeypox is gradually spreading worldwide, but China has not yet conducted research on animal models of monkeypox. As a pathogen that seriously endangers human health, monkeypox virus has multiple types of infections; Its dissemination among the population presents new characteristics.
Therefore, this article discusses the process of the discovery of monkeypox virus, early outbreaks, different types of infections, and co infections. In addition, this article also introduces experimental infections and animal models of monkeypox in rodents and non-human primates.
