[Animal Modeling] - Research Progress on Rat Hind Limb Ischemia Models

The rat hind limb ischemia model is a classic model used to study peripheral arterial diseases. So far, there are six types of modeling methods: rat artery ligation, interventional embolization, photochemical embolization, chemical injury, physical injury, and Ameroid constrictor method. This article outlines the anatomy of the arteries in the hind limbs of mice and unifies the names of the main branches of the hind limbs. This article introduces the modeling and evaluation methods of a rat hind limb ischemia model, compares the differences and advantages and disadvantages of existing methods, and points out the possible effects of mouse strain, gender, age, and anesthesia method on the model.

In summary, this article aims to provide readers with a comprehensive modeling method for rat hind limb ischemia models, and to provide references for researchers to choose models based on research directions.
