　　Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) officially signed a contract with Tencent to donate 500 million yuan to support basic research projects (doctoral programs) for young students. The donation signing ceremony was held in Beijing. Dou Xiankang, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Natural Science Foundation of China, and Xi Dan, Senior Vice President and Chief Talent Officer of Tencent, attended the signing ceremony and delivered speeches.

　　Dou Xiankang stated in his speech that the development of basic research cannot be separated from the support of all sectors of society.   As one of the main forces of scientific research funding in China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) is the primary source of competitive funding for basic research personnel. In recent years, NSFC has been actively exploring and opening up investment channels to provide strong support for the sustainable development of the NSFC cause.

　　Dou Xiankang pointed out that Tencent is a world famous Internet high-tech company, which has always maintained a leading position in the industry with continuous scientific and technological innovation, especially in recent years, many measures in talent training have been widely praised by the scientific and technological community. The donation of funds by Tencent to the Natural Science Foundation of China is not only a major response to the national call to support basic research, but also a powerful action to fulfill social responsibility and demonstrate corporate responsibility.
